Rain and Shoes

I’ve been poorer by Php 2,999.75 and that because of the rain. That also mean I have to be thrifty and observe budget cut this time. ”Maghigpit ng sinturon”, ika’ nga. My shoes were ruined by rain. Yesterday, I had bought a new pair of leather shoes for working. Although, I don’t have a plan not until December but I have to. My two other office shoes were fading and even start to crack. Polishing it is no longer applicable so this time I have no choice but to buy a new one. I spent two hours of looking around SM Makati and Landmark to pick my choice.

The weather is unpredictable. It has been raining cats and dogs for the past few days. Actually, it’s been raining through out the year and then expect a flood in some areas of Metro Manila. Aside of that, experience the hassle in commuting in public transportation if you don’t have your own ride. Sometimes, it is inevitably as a working person be caught in the middle of the rain. Although you take good care of your shoes, you can’t avoid getting it soaked in the overflow street of Metro Manila. In this season, it’s been steamy and sunny during the days after the tropical downpours of heavy rain during the nights and early morning.

Anyway, I’m still have cold and not in the mood to work.
Common Cold (Sipon)

Walang pinipiling panahon, mainit man o malamig.

Acute viral nasopharyngitis, or acute coryza, usually known as the common cold, is a highly contagious, viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory system, primarily caused by picornaviruses (including rhinoviruses) or coronaviruses.

The virus enters the cells of the lining of the nasopharynx (the area between the nose and throat), and rapidly multiplies. The major entry point is normally the nose, but can also be the eyes (in this case drainage into the nasopharynx would occur through the nasolacrimal duct).

Times like this, you still have to work.
Seasonal Flu (Trangkaso)

Last two weeks ago, I experience “trangkaso” – influenza, which commonly known as “flu”. Although I’m sick during weekend, still I was not able to work for one day, which is Monday. Medyo masakit ang loob ko kasi nabawasan yung sick leave ko na convertible to cash for the following year. By the way, that’s not my point. Just want to give you some information about this illness as one who suffers this kind of seasonal epidemic. No wonder, as far as I remember every September–October period since high school I was infected by influenza virus and get sick. Last May of this year, there is a vaccination in the office but I was not able to avail it. At that time, I go home in the province and take a vacation for one week. I missed the opportunity to undergo that kind of protection so this time I endure the effect of it. I’m not the only one that suffers to this sickness but almost everybody else. Although I taken a multivitamins regularly but that’s not enough, healthy person also infected with this sickness. It is for us to know the basics what we will do to take care of ourselves. Aside from vaccinations, taking oral antiviral drugs is our second defense of protection. It can reduce the symptoms and shorten the period of sickness. If you get sick, here are some tips for faster recovery:

1. Stay home. Manood ng TV, DVD…. Yan yung ginawa ko kaya di ako nakapasok the next day.

2. Get lots of rest, drink plenty of liquids, and avoid using alcohol and tobacco. Talagang rest, saka idagdag nyo pa kumain ng kumain habang walang ginagawa.

3. There are over-the-counter (OTC) to relieve the symptoms of the flu (but never give aspirin to children or teenagers who have flu-like symptoms, particularly fever).

4. Remember that serious illness from the flu is more likely in certain groups of people including people 65 and older, pregnant women, people with certain chronic medical conditions and young children.

5. Consult your doctor early on the best treatment, but also be aware of emergency warnings signs that require urgent medical attention. Sa katigasan ng ulo although we have a free medical check-up, di pa rin nagpatingin sa doctor. Kaya hayun, pabalik-balik lagnat at sipon ko.
